The community spirit was in full bloom on Saturday 25th April as families gathered in Holywells Park Orchard for the Scarecrow and Blossom Tea party.
Bathed in the soft light of a beautiful spring day the orchard was alive with the happy sounds of families enjoying making scarecrows. Every scarecrow had its own unique style from clashing colours to guitar playing rock stars!
Many families brought their own picnic and sat under the apple trees, looking magnificent in full blossom. The refreshments stall was as popular as ever with a wide variety homemade cakes and savoury treats.
Walking through the woodland areas, eager eyes searched for painted wooden woodland creatures and birds. Children carrying small buckets looked for things on their scavenger hunt or enjoyed other activities like nature wreaths and creating spring headbands.
The Friends group is celebrating 25 years this year and today’s event certainly showed why their events are so popular. No technology was needed. Nature provided the backing track of bird song and happy families provided the harmonies. Thank you to the Wednesday Volunteer group and Friends of Holywells Park for managing a beautiful natural environment and allowing us all to enjoy a beautiful piece of nature.
